WSOP Main Event Day 2

Thu, Jul 11, 2013

This was a pretty long day.  Every day we play we’re there for 13 hours.  From 12pm to 1am and it’s already starting to wear on me.  I started the morning with a Spa session @ The Aria.  They give dangerously good massages, I was pretty tempted to stay there and sleep.

Discovered this new game called Pineapple Open Face Chinese poker, I won’t explain it here but you all need to play this.  It’s so much fun.

I didn’t really get too many cards so for Day 2 I was actually relatively tight, at least if you compared me to Day 1.  It was pretty interesting though, to see how differently people were playing me when I had a much more straightforward solid image, even though I’m a young Asian guy (we have terrible reputations at the poker table.  We are blufftastic ready to punt off chips at any moment.)

Some notable spots from Day 2:

A little later…

Had a pretty funny moment.  This Indian guy gets moved to my table, I don’t know of many Indian poker pros, just one, and the first thing he says with a strong accent is “where is seat 1?”

I almost fell out of my chair when I heard that.  See every poker player knows where seat 1-10 is at the table.  It’s like knowing North, South, East, West.  Not only that but I now have direct position on two fish so I’m just salivating.

First hand he sits down, he’s open raising to 2800 at 4/800 blinds which is just way too big.  2 hands later I saw him min3bet 44 and play it terribly lol.

I had a really gross spot vs Barry Schulman, the cardplayers owner.  He’s an old guy who seems to play pretty tight and bets pot at least 80% of the time.  I’ve seen him with top pair+ every time except for one river bluff where the turn checked through.

I don’t know what to do and if you have a good answer I’d like to hear it:

Here’s a hand he played like 2 hands before:

For what it’s worth, when he check-raises me, I did see him kinda jittery.  He rubbed his leg a bit with his right arm, which was shaking.  He looked like he was trying to calm himself down…but I don’t know how much stock to put into these reads.

Later on I had this gem vs. my fav fish at the table

Last spot, not sure what to do here:

Today is Day 3 and I’m feeling a little nauseous which is worrisome.  Not sure what the cause is but I’m going to be drinking more water and eating a more filling breakfast.  I’ve got a really healthy stack at 127,100 chips.  I have a pretty good shot at making Day 4 and the money.  As long as my table draw is good and I don’t get very unlucky, I should be able to do it.
