I had a great time reading this article. I like patterns, I always look for them (my favorite part of geometry was doing proofs. Solving for X in pre-algebra was kind of fun) and sometimes see poker as this big puzzle where the decisions neatly fit together.
For me to really understand something, I have to be able to visualize and feel how it works, then I get it. Poker is a combination of both for me. I find this article pretty exciting. I wish I had been educated with this kind of knowledge in mind; I would have been a hell of a lot smarter.
From the article:
“Art sometimes precedes scientific analysis,” one of the van Gogh researchers said. And the relationship between art and science can go the other way too: Scientists can use art to understand math.”
